About StoryTerra
StoryTerra is an interactive map-based platform for exploring the stories through the lens of geography and history. Whether it's a novel set in feudal Japan, a film taking place in 1920s New York, or a video game spanning the Viking Age, StoryTerra helps you discover where and when each story takes place.
This project brings together over 120,000 titles — including books, films, TV shows, and games, annotated with their narrative time periods and real-world locations or the closest location to their fictional setting. You can explore the world by clicking on cities, regions, or countries, and use a time slider that lets you browse centuries, decades, or individual years.
StoryTerra is a personal project built out of a love for stories, history, and travel — and the countless ways they intersect in fiction. From ancient ruins to modern metropolises, every place has a story, and this platform is my way of mapping them all.
