Moving through time
Richard III took the throne in 1483 and lost it at Bosworth Field in 1485, ending the Wars of the Roses and starting the Tudors. Ivan III stopped paying tribute to the Mongols after the standoff at the Ugra in 1480, and Spanish monarchs funded Columbus while finishing Granada.
Bosworth in 1485 still divides historians over whether Richard murdered his nephews. Philippa Gregory's The White Princess follows the aftermath from the Tudor side, and Josephine Tey's The Daughter of Time has a modern detective re-investigating Richard's reputation from a hospital bed.
